Telecom Trophy
The Telecom Trophy was a job designed in close collaboration with Bootleg design. The ěsparkî was made from a mould and our job was to cut and etch the acrylic mount and create a precise cavity for the spark to sit, allowing perfect balance and sitting position.
IBM Snowflake Display
This was a job for IBM, through Soiree Event Management for their Christmas function. The original brief was for 40 500x500 snowflakes which we made with IBM inverted and etched at the back, to give a 3D effect.
This assignment led to the commissioning of a 1m x 1m snowflake, which was designed in 5 pieces and cut from 6mm acrylic which enabled it to be disassembled, transported and re assembled at each venue.
SPCA
These plaques were designed and built for Brand Support Ltd, to coincide with their marketing and launching of the SPCA food range. It is 10mm clear acrylic, with inverted etching on the back and SPCA and blue cross inserts engineered to fit precisely.
Wares Trophy
The Wares Trophies were commissioned by Market Media for the Hardware Associations annual awards, held at the Auckland Museum in November 2010. The brief was to have an elegant trophy whose lettering would be clearly visible to the audience and camera.
They were designed by us from 6mm black acrylic and 3mm clear acrylic with a 10mm base. The main feature is that the two trophy surfaces were held together by the winner or finalist letters having cavities that tightly housed 6mm white letters; allowing this part of the trophy to be constructed using no adhesive.
Bootleg Display Sign
This was made for display in Bootleg Designs show room. It is made from 10mm acrylic, with the Bootleg logo inverted and etched on the back. The outline of the word Bootleg is highlighted by engraving it 5mm into the acrylic. It is lit using small LEDs mounted at the base of the acrylic.
Pan Asia Menu Display
The Parnell restaurants brief was to have a counter mounted menu display that would also illuminate the logo at night. It was designed by us using 3mm sheets of acrylic, and 6mm acrylic for the support brackets. The front acrylic sheet is etched with the restaurants logo, and is mounted on top of the stand using 10mm pins. This allows it to be easily removed for menu changes or cleaning. It is illuminated using green LEDs at the base to produce a stunning green light effect.
Wood Cutting Etching and Engraving
The wood cutting and etching job was for Kawerau timber mills as the cover for a promotional package. The material is ply and the laser is used to etch and engrave the text and logo. The laser can be used to cut wood up to 10mm, which it does with sublime accuracy, and the etching and engraving can provide incredible detail, even as fine as hairline inscriptions.
Acrylic Decals
This process allows for cost effective signage using acrylic with an inverted decals at the back. This can be used for multi-coloured images photo images or logos. As the laser usage is reduced, this can be a very competitively priced option for signs and plaques.
